Our beeswax food wraps make a fantastic plastic free alternative to disposable sandwich bags and cling film. As I was making them, I thought it would make a fun activity to try at home.
So, if you're feeling crafty here’s how to make them yourselves:
- Cut the fabric - I use 100% cotton fabric cut to 30cm x 30cm
- Lay a clean towel over your ironing board to protect it (I don’t bother as I have one just for making wraps!)
- Place one of the cotton squares on a sheet of greaseproof and sprinkle some beeswax pellets (use cosmetic grade)
- Place another sheet of greaseproof paper on top and iron to melt the wax (turn off the steam on your iron’s settings)
- Leave to dry flat
Our beeswax wraps are perfect to wrap sandwiches for packed lunches.
They are reusable and easy to care for. Simply wash your wraps in cool water with a few drops of washing up liquid and allow to dry.
Avoid any heat that will cause the beeswax to melt and ruin your wraps.
